Free Hotmail Alias Email: Generate a Tagged Shared View

On this page

Use Hotmail Alias in Free, copy the complete +tag address and understand source sharing, rotation and temporary access limits.

Hotmail Alias is the Free tagged-address option for eligible @hotmail.com sources. A generated address such as example+cd4@hotmail.com reaches a platform-managed source mailbox. It does not create a new Microsoft account or transfer access to the source account’s credentials.

Select Hotmail Alias in the same composer

Open the regular inbox creation controls, choose an available Hotmail Alias source and use Generate. You do not select a particular source account from a public account list. Copy the entire generated address, including +tag, and keep the matching local inbox selected while waiting for mail.

Treat the mailbox as shared

The displayed tag is not a private message-routing boundary. This Free product can show the source mailbox’s mail in more than one alias view. Use only non-confidential tasks for which shared exposure is acceptable, and do not send password recovery, payment records or sensitive attachments to it.

Check capacity rather than guessing from the brand

Hotmail and Outlook are separate source families in the platform’s controls. A healthy Outlook pool does not prove Hotmail has available capacity. Eligible Free sources rotate by usage history, and a local inbox can expire independently of the source account remaining healthy.

Can I choose the underlying Hotmail account?

The public Generate workflow allocates an eligible available source automatically rather than offering account credentials or a source-account picker.

Does a different tag create a separate private inbox?

No. The Free Hotmail model is a shared source-mailbox view.
